In Focus : Continuing the achievements of European Safer Gambling Week

European Safer Gambling Week is scheduled for 16-22 December 2024. This piece, included in TEGU’s most recent Sustainability Report 2024, this article discusses the increasing influence of the initiative and its involvement in advocating for secure and responsible gambling throughout Europe.

Reflecting on the progress and accomplishments of European Safer Gambling Week fills us with pride. Launched in 2021, this yearly campaign has made significant strides in promoting safer gambling across Europe. The previous year marked its third edition, and the strong support and engagement it received were important milestones in TEGU’s ongoing efforts to promote a culture of safer gambling in Europe.

One remarkable achievement from the previous edition was sharing a record 6 million messages across social media platforms to promote safer gambling. This represented a 300% rise from the previous year. These messages not only raised attention about safer gambling, but also provided valuable resources and practical advice to players and the public. Transactions in over 20 languages made these messages more available, ensuring a broader reach and impact across Europe’s diverse grammatical and cultural landscapes.

Furthermore, the initiative organized 18 local events to promote discussions on safer gambling. These gatherings provided essential opportunities for industry experts, academics, advocates for harm prevention, and regulatory bodies to share insights and best practices. The events covered the latest developments in safer gambling research, regulatory efforts, and effective player protection strategies, highlighting the action all-inclusive nature.
